In Cyberchase, Earth is the home planet of Inez, Jackie, Matt, their families, and their acquaintances outside of Cyberspace. It is located in the real world.
As a framing device[]
Many scenes set on Earth are used as framing devices, showing the three characters in their everyday lives before they are called into Cyberspace. Sometimes, a skill they develop in the episode can be applied to a problem they were having back on Earth.
Before Season 14, such Earth scenes only appeared in the first five seasons, with the exception of "Watts of Halloween Trouble" in Season 11. Some later episodes used similar framing devices set in Cyberspace, with the main characters already spending time on a cybersite before the main conflict arises[1][2][3]. Even when Earth does not appear visually, many episodes throughout the show include the characters taking a portal into Cyberspace, commenting on their circumstances just before being called in, or alluding to their general lives in the real world.
Season 14 sets many scenes on Earth to focus on Inez and Jackie's home lives. "Trees, Please" is the first Cyberchase episode to take place primarily on Earth and use Cyberspace as a framing device. Instead of showing the vortex (as of the first four episodes), the season introduces a recurring scene transition that pans and fades between the Earth's sky and Cyberspace.
Threats[]
In "Secrets of Symmetria", Jackie speculates that Hacker could cause destruction to the planet if he could somehow get to the real world with the Symmetrizer. However, this does not occur.
Jackie and Inez have mentioned that garbage pollution is one of the problems facing Earth[4][5].
