Do you think this she is a tomboyish girl?

    • I don't currently have anything solid to contribute to the discussion of gender roles and nonconformity in Cyberchase, although it does sound like an interesting topic.

    • I think Jackie is an African-American.

  • Hi! I don't mean to bother you, I actually wanted to thank you for your work. Cyberchase was a show I got to grow up with when I was young, and I'm very happy to see that there's a wiki, let alone one in good hands. It's been very nice catching up with what I've forgotten over the years with most of the information being left intact. I forgot why I loved the show so much. Though the math education isn't of my age anymore, I find it has a nice level of wit that's still enjoyable, including PC references most kids wouldn't know that are surprisingly used correctly by their definitions. I dunno if you'll reply to this or not, but I wanted to ask what your favorite things are about the show, and why you're so motivated to keep such a wonderful wiki database for the show.

    • Thanks so much, it's no bother at all! This being a wiki, of course, I can't take credit for a lot of the content. In fact, I adopted Cyberchase Wiki less than a month ago. Still, I appreciate that you trust me with the crat position.

I would describe my motivation in that I think we're both coming from a similar place. I started rewatching Cyberchase out of nostalgic curiosity, and I wanted to help document it as well as possible. Well, it started with half-ironically trying to collate "lore" from each episode in a private Google Doc. I guess it got to the point where there seemed like so much information to share and preserve, that places like this wiki hadn't necessarily touched upon. And I keep coming across more that hasn't been archived in an organized way, like deprecated Cyberchase Online content and other side material. I have dozens of browser tabs left to write about, which is a driving force. I also go through with certain editing tasks because I get the sense that my younger self would've wanted those things written down.

Because the show is so dear to me, it's hard to choose a favorite thing about it. The setting is definitely up there, though. For all the potential I think Cyberspace fails to capitalize on, it's really vast and interestingly developed in other ways, and there's always much more to speculate on. (It was ages before I found any official information on what Cyberspace technically is in the first place.) At this point, many cybersites are also worlds unto themselves, which lends a great variety to other aspects such as characters. I don't hate Cyberchase For Real, but its live-action setting never engaged me like the main show did, so that's why I chose this.

I too am far ahead of the math lessons, but I think they're still really interesting from the perspective of educational technique, if that makes any sense. If an episode isn't holding my interest, I can usually try to follow how the lesson is set up and look for anything the writers do that's clever, or that potentially could've been more clear.

Thank you again for the kind words! Feel free to check back whenever you want. I'd really appreciate any further discussion or help with the wiki. We fans ought to stick together.

    • Hey, there! Well either way, new or not, your work is appreciated. I've seen the mass amount of work you've done since just a few months. And yeah with most series there's always deprecated information but cheers for stitching it all together! That isn't easy. You're definitely right about CC For Real, tho for really little kids it might give them an idea on how math is used, though it's not too useful. I do love their use for cybersites. But also their terminology, like when Dr. Marbles used the computer term back dooring correctly lol.

I would love to help out! Just let me know what I can do. I am also good with templates and can give you a nice infobox if you're looking for one. I imagine it would be a while but I have a lot of experience as an admin elsewhere, and could definitely help keep things tidy

    • I think I'm okay on the template front at the moment, but I highly appreciate the offer!
